NIXON, (Corp) Tommy Joe

  Corporal Tommy Joe Nixon Jr. of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, was killed in a one-vehicle accident near the North Carolina and Virginia state lines Tuesday, July 19. The 19-year-old victim was the son of Mrs. Mary Nixon of RR 2, Covington, and Tommy Joe Nixon Sr. of Winters, Texas. He was pronounced dead at the scene of massive chest injuries.
  Born February 6, in Danville, Illinois, he was married to Teresa A. Smith in Warren County on July 16, 1981. She survives. A resident of Warren County most of his life, Nixon attended Seeger High School and entered the Marine Corps in April of 1981. A corporal in the corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he had been on maneuvers at the Little Creek Amphibious Naval Base and was traveling from his residence to there when the accident occurred.
  Also surviving, in addition to his mother, father, and wife, is a son, Casey Lee, at home. Services were conducted Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home in West Lebanon.- thanks to S
